ABSTRACT

This paper places the main trends, opportunities and challenges - encountered in the author’s recent attorney practice - in the light of the new legal provisions introduced in the field of digital contractual flow, especially the implications of the entry into force in October 2024 of Law no. 214/2024 regarding the use of electronic signatures, time stamps and the provision of trust services based thereon. The author’s thesis is that, from a legal perspective, we already benefit from all the necessary conditions for 2025 to represent the first year in which the electronic signature becomes a central pillar in the expression of contractual consent within the Romanian business environment.
