Noii adversari ai democraţiei militante româneşti: extrema dreaptă populistă şi reţelele de socializare

ABSTRACT

In the following, I will address the new opponents of militant Romanian democracy: first, the CCR targeted far-right populists; second, social media networks I will attempt to demonstrate that the CCR's decisions on the presidential elections of 2024-2025 are based on the logic of militant democracy, but that they were adopted in ignorance of all the dangers signalled by those who, over decades, have tried to create a normative framework for the active fight against the internal opponents of democracy. Beyond any discussion about the appropriateness of militant democracy in general and in Romania in particular, the CCR's rulings have produced a "hot potato" that must be handled wisely in the context of contemporary Romanian liberal constitutionalism.
