This article brings forward a sensitive topic related not only to the Romanian (constitutional) integration in the European Union (EU), but also to the future of liberal democracy in contemporary Romania: the national constitutional identity. On the one hand, it argues that, far from expressing a loyal collaboration and dialog with the European Court of Justice, the Romanian Constitutional Court is abusively using the identity review of EU legislation.
