The Right to Compensation for Crime Victims

Abstract

The identification and application of functional instruments to ensure effective protection for victims of crimes has become a constant concern of the Romanian legislator. In this way, the legislator seeks to implement the principles adopted at the international level regarding the protection of individuals who may be granted the status of "victim." This status, in fact, represents the starting point for the legislator's efforts to identify and protect a broad category of vulnerable individuals whose rights may be affected by various behaviours, usually of a violent nature, which may sometimes constitute elements of serious crimes.
