Copyright Law and Photographic Art: Legal Perspectives

Abstract

In a world dominated by visuals, such as the one we live in today, images with their expressive and emotional power often surpass writing. While a natural person's right to their image is protected by law, Romanian jurisprudence still shows hesitation in recognizing the right to the image of goods, based on Article 555 of the new Civil Code. At the same time, copyright law includes provisions that protect photographic works, as well as portraits of individuals.
