In Romania, as in all the signatory states of the Berne Convention of 1886 for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, copyright in an original literary, artistic or scientific work is recognized and guaranteed during the life of the author and after his/her death is transmitted by inheritance, according to civil law, for a period of 70 years.
