Abstract

According to art. 111 para. (1) of the Labour Code, republished, the time during which work is performed can be determined by two cumulative elements, namely that the employee is at the employer's disposal and that they perform the tasks agreed in writing, corresponding to the type of work. The law establishes the mandatory normal daily working time of 8 hours, and by summing up the working time in a 5-day week, the legal duration of 40 hours results. The benchmark for measuring an employee’s normal working time is the week, which is used for calculating the potential extra working time for which the interdiction to exceed 48 hours a week is set.
