ABSTRACT
Freudenberg referred to burnout syndrome as the "fighter’s disease" and hypothesized that there is a predisposition to this condition among individuals who enjoy fighting. According to him, "these people have an idealized self-image and perceive themselves as competent, charismatic, and dynamic." However, over time, they lose self-confidence because they fail to meet their goals, which are often unrealistic and impossible to achieve. This leads to a state of chronic fatigue, frustration, and depression due to the inability to meet these goals and the expected rewards, ultimately leading to decreased motivation and reduced work engagement.
