ABSTRACT

This paper proposes a brief investigation of privacy and data protection from a historical and legal perspective. The study goes down to the dawn of "history" to investigate rules of conduct established in antiquity, in particular in Roman law, and then up to the present day, where we find specialized legal rules adapted to the evolution of society and the challenges it faces.

Following privacy expressed in the form of a right, we retraced its origins and historical development and also referred to certain notions that complement and support this right, such as privacy and the "right to be forgotten".
