ABSTRACT

Over two decades after the adoption of Law no. 211/2004 on certain measures to ensure the information, support, and protection of crime victims ("Law no. 211/2004"), its actual use and implementation remain alarmingly low. Despite its reparatory nature, the mechanisms it establishes are rarely activated in practice - an aspect explained by a series of cumulative factors, such as the lack of information available to injured persons, the complexity of the legal steps involved, as well as the courts’ discretion in granting the requested compensation.
